Frequently Asked Questions

What is USGA Safety and Wellness Committee?

We are a group of hardworking undergraduate students who devote everyday to your behalf concerning student health and safety. The USGA Safety and Wellness Committee works constantly with the Director of Campus Safety, Dean of Students, Judicial Affairs, and the Director of the Wellness Center to bring any needed change to Loyola. This committee has members that sit on the Wellness Center Quality Control Board, Pandemic Flu Council, CCRT University Sexual Prevention Board, Undergraduate Safety Net Coalition Alcohol Policy Board, and the Campus Safety Advisory Board (New as of Fall 2010). The committee represents student interests and only student interests.

Why should I care?

The USGA Safety and Wellness Committee has a good reputation as well as administrative connections to implement students’ goals. We have the resources to affect change.

What have you actually done?

Members of this USGA committee sit on university boards such as the CCRT Sexual Assault Prevention University Board. Boards such as these include administrators such as but not limited to: Dean of Students Jane Neufeld, Campus Safety Director Robert Fine, Jeremy Inabinet from Judicial Affairs, Rabia Kahn from Res-Life. This is a great platform for discussion and student representation. This year alone, the Safety and Wellness Committee has helped place AEDs, (Automated External Defibrillators) on campus. We also advocated for them to be more visible. You have may noticed more of them on campus. We have also participated in safety patrols, made sure that the library computers were cleaned intensively, placed suggestion boxes at WTC, reached out to students personally for ideas, and represented student interests on four major university boards. Starting in 2009, our committee provided the sole USGA representation to CCRT, Wellness Quality, Pandemic, and Safety Net university boards.
