As liaisons to academic administrative officials at the university, the Academic Committee works to ensure that students are receiving the best education Loyola can offer them.
The Academic Committee deals with any academic area pertaining to students, including the undergraduate schools/college, the libraries, research services, global affairs (study abroad programs), academic services (advising, career center, Center for Experiental Learning, Core Curriculum, the Honors Program, and Office of Registration and Records), and online classes.
Currently, the Academic Committee is working on:
- improving the career center (by allowing alumni to advise students on future careers)
- improving UCWR (by possibly creating leveled classes or by allowing to test out)
- collaborating with ITS to improve Novell GroupWise and switch to a new email provider and improve Loyola’s website
- looking into summer online classes
- clarifying the summer transfer credit policy
- looking into the new core curriculum changes
- improving UNIV 101
- expanding library hours (both during the year and during finals week)
